13w 1d all is well

"If I ask really nicely, would you look at my cervix?"
"Yes I would".
"Thank you".

A conversation I never thought I would have-- but hey-- so, the ultrasound? all is well. the little wiggler is wiggling up a storm, all looks perfectly on schedule, all is good, measurements, heart rate, etc.... nothing scary happening with latent or active bleeds, or placenta misbehaving or anything else praise the gods/goddess/all-that-is.

So after the ultrasound, I met with doc #3, Dr. L-- a guy I liked pretty much right away- firm handshake, congratulated us as he walked in the room. After he confirmed that the ultrasound had shown nothing scary and no cause for the bleeding, I asked if he would please look at my cervix. So he did. A million capillaries on the surface, just aching to be disrupted. yay. who designed this?
so then, he said, I am not telling you not to have, [um, unaccustomed activities (sorry dad)], but after all you've been through to get to this point..... he trailed off... then he said something scary about having seen miscarriage under such circumstances a few times in his many years so....
um...
yeah.
the good news? cervix looks good and CLOSED, nice mucus plug (yay mucus plug!)

and now, with this huge bit of reassurance that all is well, I now can allow myself to celebrate SECOND TRIMESTER!

HOOORAY and HOT DIGGITY!!!

now please pardon me while I go google 13 week growth of the little being and revel a bit.
fear? you have a time out.

So relieved to hear all is well in there. I remember having a similar bit of beigy pinky discharge at about 10 weeks and it was indeed from sex. I went in for an u/s and that was the first question the doc asked me. I was rather embarrassed but didn't care b/c at least it meant I got a look-see. :)

Good to know it's nothing too serious. Take it easy, you two! ;)

So so glad to hear all is well. We are so cautious that we abstain for the first 12 weeks and then just see how things go from there. DH is not happy about it...but I assure him he will be a lot less happy if I have to live with another loss or constant scares from spotting. Just get creative....tee hee.

once again...so happy all is well.

What great news! You have a mucous plug - wow - i am impressed - I had no idea that one got a mucous plug so early. All I ever hear about them is related to giving birth.
Well congratulations!
I think we are about the same - or I am a few days ahead - happy second tri!!!

Congratulations!

So are you banned from sex for the duration of your pregnancy??

My hubby and I live like roomies anyhow since he's afraid he'll harm the baby or the baby will somehow "see" him.... *rolling eyes* lol

Happy Second Trimester! Wahoo! Hopefully energy & yucky feeling will begin to dissapate soon...

While I'm sorry for the scare, I can not imagine celebrating wedding bliss without just a little bit of nookie, ya know?

So glad that all is well, and hoping and crossing fingers that soon (when you feel ready) the CD ticker (which I think has pooped out) will be replaced with a baby ticker! Wahoo, another milestone!

Congratulations again, and a gentle nudge to share a few more wedding pictures when you have a moment.

Singing happy songs of joy for you and your little wiggler!

Welcome to the second third, known as "cheery" (as opposed to "weary," which just ended, and "dreary," which is to come). Enjoy every moment. Remind me sometime to tell you about how Liam was "conceived" in the year I had the least action since high school. (Will was in chemotherapy.) Oh, the weird, weird world of ART baby-making.

Kate, dear, I'm so happy for this reassurance for you. If you come to Portland on business, please I hope that it is soon because no matter what you think now, I seriously doubt you'll want to travel much past 28 or 30 weeks. I had ideas about two coast-to-coast trips in April/May (Liam was born at the end of June) and I opted out of both of them. Just. Too. Much.

Portland is two hours south of here by car (I'm in Olympia). If you go there, I will try very hard to get there too. With love,

Elizabeth

All teared up at your report. Yes, hooray. I say it without an exclamation point because I feel so reverent of this whole process. Deeply so. Thanks for letting us all see the real stuff you're feeling and working through.

Awesome awesome awesome....yay for you! Uhm sorry about the banishment, though. Been there, done that. I've survived it, but the DH hasn't so well. ;)

Great news. Now you can relax and be pregnant. So many milestones so much to plan. Glad that all is OK.

Yay! So glad to hear that all is well. My OB counseled against sex for at least the first trimester...but we were scared well into the second. It kind of sucks. But a small price to pay in the long run, I think!

Enjoy your fear break. I hope it lasts awhile.

So glad all is well - unaccustomed activities aside. :) (My husband said the other day that he had no idea making babies involved so little sex. I concur. And I'm sure once I stop feeling queasy all the time, I'll want to change that. Perhaps.) Welcome to trimester 2!
